Must have nail polish colors for spring

With spring and summer just around the corner, now is the time to shelve winter’s dark tones and experiment with fresh and flirty nail polish colors. Manicure trends for this season evoke the loveliest of flower-filled gardens, with vivid fuchsias, petal pinks and lovely lilacs the pick of the crop.

Raspberry red

From high shine glosses to red-hot hues, spring’s new fuchsias are getting us in the mood to move away from our go-to nudes. Seasonal brights like Tom Ford Nail Lacquer in Indian Pink and Dolce & Gabbana’s hot pink color Shocking are a great way to put a literal spring in your step while nicely matching a pretty sundress. Bourjois’ So Laque! in Preppy Hibiscus is a glossy pinky red which suits all skin tones and has an easy to apply one coat application.

Petal Pink

Spring’s new crop of grown-up pink polishes are here to fight manicure boredom. OPI Nail Lacquer in Let Me Bayou A Drink is a blush pink which is ultra natural and suits all skin tones. Inspired by the Pantone color of the year, rose quartz, YSL’s Rose Romantique Nail Polish is a sheer pearlescent ballerina pink – one coat enhances your natural nail and two gives the look of a French manicure base. If you’re looking for a slightly brighter option, Essie Nail Polish in Pink Diamond is a pale pink shade with a hint of peach.

Minty must-haves

Working well with neutral and pastel color palettes, mint green nail polishes are here to stay. OPI’s That’s Hula-rious! Is a perfect mint green while L’Oreal’s Color Riche in Perle De Jade is an appealing color cross between pistachio and mint chocolate chip ice cream. For those looking for something a little more dramatic Nailberry’s Love You Very Matcha features a great earthy khaki tone.

Lilac love

Somewhere between light blue and purple are many pale periwinkle hues just waiting to grace your digits. Combine the pastel and violet trends with light lilac shade Butter London Patent Shine in English Lavender or Zoya’s Leslie which has an opalescent shimmer blended into the formula. Not a fan of pastels? Barry M Nail paint in Berry Ice Cream serves as a happy medium between a deep purple and spring’s watercolor palette.
